Tongcheng Travel big data: Novel outbound destinations see 100%+ YoY growth

On January 31, Tongcheng Travel released its 2025 Spring Festival data. It shows that from New Year’s Eve to the third day of the Lunar New Year, domestic scenic spots saw a continuous increase in visitor numbers, with the first four days of the Spring Festival holiday experiencing a 3x increase compared to before the holiday. For outbound travel, hotel bookings for more than 200 lesser-known overseas destinations, such as Sapporo and Chiba in Japan, saw bookings more than double compared to last year.

Recent data from Fliggy revealed a significant increase in travel orders during the first two days of the Spring Festival holiday. For domestic travel, orders for flights, custom tours, and hotel packages including meals and entertainment saw a sharp increase compared to last year. In terms of outbound travel, the number of orders continued to grow strongly compared to last year’s high base, with international cruise orders increasing more than six times compared to last year.



Thailand: Over 22,000 Chinese Tourists Per Day in January; More Chartered Flights and Group Tours Planned

As of the end of January, Thailand has been receiving 22,000 to 24,000 Chinese tourists daily for the month. “On January 28 alone, nearly 30,000 people arrived in Thailand,” Sirivejkul said. To improve group tours numbers, the Thai authorities are negotiating with tour operators to seek more chartered flights after the Spring Festival holiday. The Tourism Authority of Thailand expects that from January 24 to February 2, the final number of tourists from mainland China will reach 287,000, with tourism revenue surpassing 8.8 billion Thai baht (about 1.88 billion yuan), reflecting a 7% and 9% increase compared to last year, respectively.
