From flights to ferries, China's gears up for a Spring Festival travel boom

Shenzhen Airport opens new routes to Cairo, Nha Trang, and Sapporo.

In the early hours of January 21, Shenzhen Airport's first direct intercontinental passenger route to Cairo took off. This marked the third international passenger route opened at Shenzhen Airport within a week, and it is also the first intercontinental route opened in 2024

New flights from eastern China to SE Asia

China Eastern Airlines in Ningbo will increase flights to international destinations during the Spring Festival, including Phuket, Bangkok, and other routes. According to China Eastern Airlines' Zhejiang Branch, during the Spring Festival, Ningbo Lishe International Airport will increase flights to international destinations such as Phuket and Bangkok. In addition to the increased frequency of flights to Phuket and Bangkok, China Eastern will also increase flights to Singapore to a daily schedule.

 

Xiamen Airlines to launch direct flights between Fuzhou and Seoul

Starting January 24th, Xiamen Airlines now operates two weekly round-trip flights between Fuzhou and the South Korean capital. For eligible passengers transiting in Fuzhou on international and regional flights, the airline will provide free transit accommodation services for layovers between 6 and 24 hours.



Seasonal Mainland–Taiwan ferry links officially start

Expecting to transport over 100,000 passengers during the Spring Festival, ferry services started on January 26th between the Mainland city of Xiamen and Taiwan's Kinmen island county. It is estimated that during this year's Spring Festival, there will be 640 ferry services between Xiamen and Kinmen, expecting to transport over 100,000 passengers. To cope with the peak passenger flow, Gaoqi Border Inspection Station will open manual inspection channels in advance and fully operate express channels to maximise clearance efficiency and reduce passenger waiting time.

 

Ctrip Group and All Nippon Airways Start Collaboration

On January 22, All Nippon Airways and Ctrip Group signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Beijing, aiming to strengthen collaboration in the field of aviation travel. The cooperation will involve deep collaboration around member services, product marketing, information technology services and more. Under this cooperation, All Nippon Airways will work with Ctrip to create an ANA Ctrip flagship store.

Lucky Air launches a new Shanghai–Asahikawa route

On January 23, Lucky Air operated its inaugural flight HO1381 from Shanghai Pudong to Asahikawa, Japan using an Airbus A320neo aircraft. This is the first Northeast Asia international route newly opened by Lucky Air for the 2024 Spring Festival.
