China's 11.11 sees 30% outbound travel growth: Fliggy


According to Fliggy’s data released on November 12, 11.11 (11 November) sales achieved double-digit growth year-on-year, with a 40% increase in transaction users. Pre-booked product sales surged by nearly 90% year-on-year. Outbound travel product sales rose by 30%, with Hong Kong, Japan, Macau, Thailand, South Korea, Malaysia, the United States, Singapore, Vietnam, and Australia ranking as the most popular destinations. Meanwhile, Iceland, Turkey, Cambodia, Fiji, and France emerged as fast-growing destinations with significant increases in booking volume.


Chinese visitor spending in Germany rose 275% in 2023 YoY

According to the German Federal Statistical Office, international travel to Germany has seen a robust recovery. From January to August 2024, Chinese visitors accounted for 1.19 million overnight stays, reaching 62% of 2019 levels. Most notably, Chinese tourist spending in Germany in 2023 surged by 275% compared to 2022.

Western Australia Tourism Board appoints Christine Xu Greater China regional manager

The Western Australia Tourism Board has announced the promotion of Christine Xu to Greater China Regional Manager. She will oversee operations and promotional efforts in Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. Zanadu Travel sends over 17,000 tourists to Africa by post-pandemic

During a recent China-Kenya tourism cooperation dialogue, Song Hong, Assistant General Manager of Zanadu Travel, revealed that the company has been working hard on developing African inbound and outbound tourism markets. Since the outbound travel market resumed last year, Zanadu Travel had sent over 17,000 tourists to Africa by September 2024. Among them, more than 1,200 visited Kenya.


Guangzhilv and New South Wales Tourism successfully promote Australian experiences in Hunan

On November 7, the “Australian ‘New’ Experience” tourism product promotion event for New South Wales, organized by Guangzhilv, took place in Changsha, Hunan. The event showcased core tourism resources and unique attractions of New South Wales, Australia. Guangzhilv and the New South Wales Tourism Board had previously signed a memorandum of understanding during the Guangdong Travel Expo in September, committing to nationwide marketing campaigns and local city outreach.

Air China to increase Beijing-Vancouver flights

Starting November 18, Air China will expand its Beijing Capital-Vancouver route from one weekly flight to three weekly flights, operating on Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays.


China Southern Airlines to launch new routes to Sydney and Melbourne

China Southern Airlines announced the launch of direct flights from Beijing Daxing to Sydney (from December 13) and Melbourne (from December 14). The Beijing Daxing-Sydney route will operate four times a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday), while the Beijing Daxing-Melbourne route will run thrice weekly (Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday).



Hainan opens direct flights to Dubai

On November 15, flight HU735 departed from Haikou Meilan International Airport, marking the inauguration of the Haikou-Dubai direct route. This is Meilan Airport’s second UAE route launched this year, following the Haikou-Abu Dhabi connection.


Cruise tourism gains momentum with 744 related enterprises in China

According to Qichacha data, China currently has 744 registered cruise-related enterprises. Over the past decade, annual registrations have fluctuated, with 50 new companies registered in 2023, marking a 56.25% year-on-year increase. As of now, 35 new registrations have been recorded for 2024. In terms of industry distribution, 45.11% of these enterprises operate in leasing and business services. Over 70% of the companies have been in operation for more than five years. Additionally, more than half of the registered enterprises have a capital exceeding 10 million yuan.


Canadian tourism delegation holds successful exchange with Guangzhou and Shenzhen representatives

From November 14 to 15, a Canadian tourism industry delegation hosted an exchange event at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Guangzhou. Representatives from renowned Canadian tourism businesses, including Rocky Mountaineer, Brewster Travel Canada, Yellowknife Aurora Tours, and Richmond Convention Centre, participated alongside provincial and national tourism boards. This marks the delegation's first return to China post-pandemic. The event aimed to strengthen tourism collaboration, gain insights into current trends in the Chinese market, and offer diverse, high-quality Canadian travel experiences for Chinese tourists in 2025 and beyond.
