
On October 18, the National Immigration Administration held a press conference to report key data and achievements of immigration management in the third quarter of 2024. In Q3, national immigration agencies inspected 160 million people entering and exiting the country, a year-on-year increase of 30.1%. Of these, mainland residents accounted for 78.54 million trips, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan residents made 64.69 million trips, and foreign nationals made 16.46 million trips, with year-on-year increases of 27.3%, 28.9%, and 50.5%, respectively.
In the first three quarters of 2024, Egypt welcomed 265,000 Chinese tourists
This marks a 65% year-on-year increase.The number of flights from China to Egypt also tripled, and it's expected that over 300,000 Chinese tourists will visit by the end of the year.
Japan’s tourism industry is on track for a record year in 2024
Data from the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) shows that in September, Japan hosted 2.87 million international business and leisure visitors. While this was slightly lower than August’s 2.93 million due to typhoon-related weather, the total number of overseas visitors in the first nine months of the year reached 26.88 million, surpassing last year’s 25 million. Since February, Japan has seen record monthly tourist arrivals, with 3.29 million in July, the highest ever. In September, the largest number of foreign tourists came from South Korea (656,700), followed closely by mainland China (652,300), a figure that doubled compared to the same period last year. JNTO attributed the surge in Chinese visitors to increased flight and cruise connections and the Chinese national holidays in September.

The Fiji Tourism Board is organizing its 2024 winter roadshow for Greater China
From January to August 2024, Fiji welcomed 22,331 Chinese tourists, a 31% year-on-year increase. To further develop the Chinese tourism market and meet the demand for direct procurement of tourism resources by Chinese travel agencies, the Fiji Tourism Board will collaborate with 24 partners, including Fiji Airways, hotels, attractions, and destination management companies, for a 12-day roadshow. This will take place from October 24 to November 4 in cities such as Shenzhen, Shanghai, Beijing, Wuhan, and Chengdu.
Saudi Tourism sets up tourism festival in Beijing's Temple of Heaven Park
Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Tourism, Ahmed Al-Khateeb, officially launched the “Saudi Tourism Festival” in Beijing’s iconic Temple of Heaven Park. This immersive event offers Chinese tourists the opportunity to explore Saudi Arabia’s rich cultural traditions. Running from October 18 to 26, the festival features interactive cultural booths, live performances, and exclusive holiday travel offers, allowing visitors to experience the legendary charm of Saudi Arabia.
China Eastern Airlines to Suspend Wenzhou-Madrid Route
According to Bloomberg, China Eastern Airlines will suspend its Wenzhou-Madrid flights at the end of October 2024. The airline's app shows no flight or ticket information for the route after October 27.

China Southern Airlines Expands Australia and New Zealand Routes
Recently, China Southern Airlines announced the launch of new routes, including Guangzhou-Adelaide and Beijing Daxing-Melbourne/Sydney in December. Additionally, the Guangzhou-Christchurch/Perth routes will soon resume service.
Hainan Airlines to Open Haikou-Dubai Route
Hainan Airlines plans to launch a new international route between Haikou and Dubai on November 15, 2024. This will be Hainan Airlines' second direct flight from Haikou to the UAE, following its Haikou-Abu Dhabi route. The Haikou-Dubai route will operate twice weekly, with flights scheduled for Tuesdays and Fridays.
Spring Airlines Increases Shenyang Winter-Spring Flights
Starting October 27, Spring Airlines will execute its winter-spring flight schedule, offering 12 domestic routes from Shenyang, covering 19 cities. It will also increase international flight frequencies on routes between Shenyang-Osaka and Shenyang-Jeju Island, meeting growing demand for outbound travel.
AirAsia X Resumes Chongqing-Kuala Lumpur Route
On October 15, AirAsia X resumed its Chongqing-Kuala Lumpur flight, with four flights per week. Currently, AirAsia operates flights to 19 destinations in China with more than 60 two-way routes.
United Airlines Adds Hong Kong-Los Angeles Route
On October 14, United Airlines announced the launch of a new daily non-stop flight between Hong Kong and Los Angeles, starting October 28, 2024. The airline will also continue offering two daily flights between Hong Kong and San Francisco.
