China Data: 2.86 Million Q1 Outbound Trips


According to China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism data on Q1 2024 national travel agency performance, Chinese travel agencies organized 20.7 million domestic tourists, totaling 53 million days. The top ten regions for domestic tourism reception by travel agencies in the first quarter were Hubei, Zhejiang, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Yunnan, Hunan, Hainan, Chongqing, Shaanxi, and Fujian.


For outbound tourism, nationwide travel agencies organized 2.86 million outbound tourists in the first quarter of 2024, totaling 13.8237 million days. The top ten destinations for outbound tourism organized by travel agencies in the first quarter were Thailand, Hong Kong, Macau, Japan, Vietnam, Singapore, South Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Italy.

On June 24, Air China announced that it will open a Beijing to Dhaka route, the capital of Bangladesh, starting July 10, 2024, with four flights per week.


China Eastern Airlines opens Wuhan-Singapore route


On June 21, China Eastern Airlines successfully launched a new Wuhan-Singapore route. After a 10-year hiatus, China Eastern Airlines has once again opened a direct flight route from Hubei to Singapore, operating three round-trip flights per week on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.


China Southern Airlines opens Guangzhou-Budapest direct flight


On June 27, China Southern Airlines officially opened the Guangzhou-Budapest direct flight route. This is the first direct flight route from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to Hungary. The Guangzhou-Budapest route is operated by Boeing 787-9 aircraft, with four flights per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays and an air travel time of about 12 hours.


Singapore Airlines to open Beijing Daxing-Singapore route in November


On June 24, Singapore Airlines announced that it will open a passenger service route between Beijing Daxing International Airport and Singapore Changi Airport in November, with one round-trip flight per day using Boeing B787-10 aircraft. Reservations for this flight are now available on the Singapore Airlines official website, WeChat mini program, mobile application, and through authorized agents and travel agencies.



Beijing-Prague direct flight route resumes


According to CCTV News, on June 24 local time, Hainan Airlines' Beijing-Prague HU7937 flight successfully landed at Václav Havel International Airport in Prague, marking the resumption of the Beijing-Prague direct flight route. Hainan Airlines plans to operate three round-trip flights per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.


Xi'an-Ho Chi Minh City international route opens


From July 1, Xi'an Xianyang International Airport will open a direct flight route to Ho Chi Minh City. According to the Civil Aviation Administration of China, the Xi'an-Ho Chi Minh City route is operated by Sichuan Airlines on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, with a flight time of about 4 hours.


AirAsia has launched a direct flight from Beijing Daxing to Bangkok Don Mueang


On June 28, AirAsia announced the launch of a direct flight from Beijing Daxing to Bangkok Don Mueang. This route will officially operate from July 1, 2024, with one flight per day. Passengers will have the opportunity to visit Bangkok more conveniently and explore other popular tourist destinations such as Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Nakhon Ratchasima, Phuket, Hat Yai, and Krabi through AirAsia's route network.



The number of Chinese tourists to Bosnia and Herzegovina nearly triples in Q1


According to the Bosnia and Herzegovina National Statistics Bureau, the number of Chinese tourists visiting Sarajevo and other destinations in the first four months of this year nearly tripled compared to the same period last year, making Chinese tourists the fastest-growing group of foreign visitors.


Data shows that in the first four months of this year, over 11,000 Chinese tourists visited Bosnia and Herzegovina. In April alone, over 4,800 Chinese tourists visited, representing a year-on-year increase of 166%.


Laos implements visa-free policy for Chinese tourists


The Laos Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism recently announced that tourists from mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan can enjoy a 15-day visa-free policy – provided they travel with an agency-arranged travel group. The itinerary needs to be organized by a Laotian travel company and approved by the Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism. The policy is effective from July 1 to December 31, 2024.



Indonesia announces visa-free policy for Chinese tourists


Indonesia's Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, stated during the Summer Davos Forum in China that Indonesia will finalize their visa-free entry policy for Chinese tourists before the government transition in October. The Indonesian government is also actively developing diverse tourist attractions for Chinese tourists comparable to the success that Bali has enjoyed.
